Wiesław Kwaśny

 

born on December the 7th, 1950, in Krakow. Graduated from the Academy of Music in Krakow, in Professor Eugenia Umińska’s violin class. Holder of the Yale School of Music (USA) scholarship. He has been the concertmaster of the Polish Radio and TV Orchestra in Krakow, a soloist and concertmaster of Sinfonia Varsovia and the Polish Chamber Orchestra, performing with them many times in Poland and abroad. He has cooperated, among others, with Yehudi Menuhin, Mścisław Rostropowicz, Jerzy Maksymiuk, and has made numerous recordings for Polish Radio and Television.

 

Wiesław Kwaśny is a laureate of international competitions, a co-organizer of the Chamber Orchestra of the Krakow Philharmonics, which accompanies the performances of, among others, Nigel Kennedy. He has run cycles of a dozen or so monographic concerts devoted to the music of Bach, Mozart, Haydn, and other composers. For more than ten years, he has been organizing chamber music concerts with participation of the Academy of Music students.

 

For six years, he has been the concertmaster of the Krakow Philharmonics Orchestra.
